Art2Go is now a non-profit

Because we want to ride the momentum of Kangaroo, we have made art2go a non-profit organization. This enables to us to raise funds to produce future events and provide an arena for artists to share their work on a more regular basis.

art2go will soon host smaller monthly events, similar to our previous art2go evenings where we can bring work in progress for critiques.

Next public projects in the horizon, The Spoken Word.

Donate to art2go to support the local art scene and get a tax write-off.

See you all at the stage reading of Kangaroo!

Some prose from Bill, Margy's brother about Kangaroo:

Hi Margy,

Your play will be indeed spannend, bedeutend, herzzerreißend, beruhigend, tränenerfüllt, a premier which will touch the hearts and spirits of all those in attendence. Somehow I will be there too Margy, somehow during the early morning hours of Germany, words and feelings will catch the wings of the jetstream, will follow the route of the swallows and land in the land of the Saxe, in the land of Martin Luther, in the land of the Germanen, in the land in which the combined forces of Russia, Prussia, Poland and Germany defeated the forces of Napolean, the land where the American and Russian armies met during the Second World War on the bridge near Torgau, crossing the Elbe, in the land where an industry, the solar industry is establishing itself as a future energy source, in a land where composers like Bach and Mendelsohn, Händel worked and lived, composing their pieces of music, in a land where poets and writers like Goethe and Schiller lived and loved, a land with countless castles, cathedrals and museums, of natural wonders, of man-made wonders. How did I end up giving a guided tour of Saxony? Margy, may your introduction into the world of the theater be the beginning. Take care and greetings to your loved ones. Bill

A stage reading of Kangaroo will be at the North Coast Repertory Theater on Monday, May 7th.

Caption from The Sky is Falling

Wanted to share a short caption from one of the chapters of my book, The Sky is Falling.

"...For me, the only object that held great magic was my grandfather’s tea cabinet. Inside, teacups and saucers lined the mirrored shelves like isolated vessels floating on an icy ocean. They reminded me of the story of Chuong Tri, the hideous musician who loved a princess and died of a broken heart. And because his love was unrequited, his heart hardened into a stone and was made into a teacup. When tea was poured inside this cup, you could see the musician's face in the reflection of the liquid, or so the story goes. I thought that my grandfather’s cabinet held a secret just like the Chuong Tri’s teacup. Because every surface inside was mirrored, it seemed as if there were endless objects behind glass doors that could never be reached. There appeared to be another parlor behind the one we were living in. Everything placed inside that cabinet was made precious and suddenly had multiple selves..."

Sand Forms

This photo was taken as the sun rested on the horizon at Ocean Beach in San Francisco (a cherished sight at SF’s foggy coastline). Low tide provided a great opportunity to photograph elegant sand formations trapping small pools of water. The deep shadows and highlights created an abstract image that plays with dimension and perspective.

Online Men Poetry Thread

Online men are less scary then men in the flesh. They are numbers and words and pictures. They all say they like to kiss like they have been reading Cosmopolitan which says women don’t like the act as much as the foreplay. I imagine that they dream of throwing away their Viagra and slouching their bellies against my butt cheeks, snuggling and babbling on about their days while I raise my eyebrows facing the wall and talking to my inner self asking why did I think I wanted this when what I want is a man I invent who knows me and who wakes up with a hard-on and jumps who I am.

Margy H. has began this initial thread, feel free to add your own about online love.

Uncles Rex's Music Diary

Our good friend, James Sigismonti aka Uncle Rex has posted a new blog -- a music diary of sorts where he posts and review worthy original bands/artists. He also has a recommended list of things to do while listening to the album. That's quite helpful for me, since I would've never thought of "lying alone in your bed picking lint from your belly button" while listening to Ray La Montagne. I'm sure that would greatly heighten the music listening experience to a whole new level. Thank goodness for cultural sages like Uncle Rex. We would never know what to do with ourselves otherwise.

Check out Uncle Rex's new blog. He's also linked from this blog under "Friends."

Gotta Love the Google Guys

Move over Brad and Angelina! The Google guys are here! As if providing free downloads of the classics weren't enough, Google has launched entity to invest in projects promoting entrepreneurship in Africa and funding research for clean water. Google has set aside seed money -- the equivalent of 3 million shares of stock worth more than $900 million -- to fund an entity called Google.org. Also in the horizon are Google Grants, a program which provides non-profit organizations in 10 countries with free advertising on the search engine.
